In support of Rawls College of Business’ Excellence in Banking program, the funds will provide annual scholarships to four students with financial needs
DALLAS (May 18, 2020)–
NDBT, a 60-year-old community bank with
five banking centers located in the Dallas
Metroplex, has committed $200,000 in support of the Excellence in
Banking program at Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business.
NDBT, a founding partner of the
program, will provide $40,000
annually for a minimum of five years. Each year,
the funds will be awarded as
a scholarship to four students with financial needs who are in good
standing and have been admitted into the Excellence in Banking program.
“Our gift to Texas Tech’s Excellence in Banking program is a testament
of our commitment to investing in the training and development of the
banking industry’s future leaders,” said Mike Shipman, a Texas Tech
alumni and Chairman & CEO of NDBT. “We hope this endowment
will create more opportunities for current and future students at Texas
Tech who are interested in the field of banking, and help prepare these
future bankers for a successful and prosperous career.”
Texas Tech’s Excellence in Banking Program, supported by a growing
endowment of more than $11 million, is designed to produce top-notch
bankers by giving students a comprehensive understanding of modern
banking operations and practices. In the program, students will complete
their finance curriculum and new courses on advanced banking topics.
