Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month – A Banker’s Story

September 15 – October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Hispanic history is an integral part of American history. Over the years, numerous influential figures from Spanish-speaking populations and Latin America have made significant contributions across various fields, including education, entertainment, sports, and politics. This is why we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States from September 15 – October 15.

Growing up, I was surrounded by incredible Latinas who embodied purpose, strength, determination, along with a deep love for the Hispanic community. Although they (mi familia), were often overlooked for being different, they have always been, and continue to be the driving force that empowers me within my community and country. This month, I celebrate the unsung heroes in our Latino communities, as well as the entire Hispanic community, who create lasting impacts and remind me that my roots provide strength while my aspirations know no limits. ¡Si se puede!

As I reflect on my journey with NDBT, I intentionally accepted my job offer as VP | Business Development on September 15th, marking the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, while celebrating my uniqueness.

I feel truly fortunate to work for a company that values diversity and inclusion, offering me an environment where I can be my authentic self and make meaningful contributions to the community. My involvement includes better understanding the Latino market, supporting the Irving School District with financial literacy needs, providing grants through the Irving Schools Foundation Spark Tank program, mentoring young seniors in the Irving’s Future Leader initiative and serving as a board member on several local nonprofit boards, one near and dear to my heart is Irving Cares. In so many ways, when I dedicate my time and talents, I am celebrating “mi familia” and honoring the courageous individuals who have paved the way for me to embrace my identity as a proud Latina every day! Let us continue to celebrate and uplift the rich diverse Hispanic cultures and promote kindness, throughout this month and beyond!
