NDBT is proud to annually award two local high school seniors funds to assist with the cost of college tuition through our James W. Tyra Scholarship Program.
The Story Behind The Scholarship
The James W. Tyra Memorial Scholarship was created in honor of James W. Tyra, who served as the first Community Reinvestment Act Officer for North Dallas Bank & Trust Co. Mr. Tyra was passionate in his desire to serve, teach and mentor others, believing that his efforts would result in the personal growth and success of those he helped. Mr. Tyra invested a significant amount of his time and energy in the service of others and was particularly interested in assisting the next generation of Dallas area citizens. This scholarship program was born out of the same spirit Mr. Tyra exhibited throughout his life and is intended to provide annually renewable college scholarships to deserving students residing within the bank’s primary trade areas.
