About James

James Tipton serves as Chief Credit Officer at NDBT, and as such manages the Credit Administration/Operations and Loan Operations. James’ duties include oversight of the bank’s credit and loan risk management process, operations, and analysis. He also coordinates the development and ongoing maintenance of the Credit Risk Policy to ensure adherence to sound underwriting best practices, laws and regulations.

Experience, Education and Certifications

James’ banking career spans almost 20 years, including eight years as a Commissioned Bank Examiner at the Texas Department of Banking. He began his banking career as a Teller in 2004 and served as Enterprise Risk Manager at North Dallas Bank & Trust prior to his promotion to CCO in 2021.

James earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Community and Family

James and his wife, Jenna, have four children and are active members of Prestoncrest Church of Christ, where James is a deacon and serves on the Budget Committee. He is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling.
